Meet Melbourne Social Co’s Director Shelley
Melbourne-based creative Shelley Friesen, is the Director of Melbourne Social Co and sister brand The Social Co Academy, and makes no excuses for being a digital geek – in fact, she’s proud of it.
With a traditional fashion editorial background, Shelley began forging a career in social media over ten years ago – long before her contemporaries knew their MySpace from their My Little Ponies!
While pursuing IT wasn’t a stylish choice for a child of the 80’s, Shelley’s intuition to pursue social media was bang on (much like Olivia Newton John’s leotard in Let’s Get Physical!)
Now leading a team of fifteen, most of whom can’t remember a world without selfies and Snapchat, Shelley has been instrumental in building the digital presence of some of Australia’s biggest brands.

What a typical day looks like: Emails, emails and emails! My role at Melbourne Social Co is to coordinate the day-to-day running of the business including overseeing our campaigns, managing the team and speaking with clients so I spend most of my time emailing and on the phone.
What you’ll find me doing on the weekend: Drinking coffee and hanging out with my two cats Ruby and Felix!

Samantha Gray
Senior Account ExecutiveWhat a typical day looks like: Directing photoshoots, all of the emails, designing graphics and planning content schedules.
What you’ll find me doing on the weekend: Cooking up a storm, playing with my Poodle Ollie and binging reality shows

Jess Randall
Senior Brand StrategistWhat a typical day looks like: No two days ever look the same at Melbourne Social Co. As the strategist here at Melbourne Social Co, I’ll be working behind the scenes on client strategies, speaking to new clients who have come on board or agency enquiries. My day is fueled with drinking lots of tea and coffee, cheeky snacks and good tunes.
What you’ll find me doing on the weekend: My family all live in the same postcode, so we’re always between each other’s houses, nights are cocktails with my girlfriends or little home projects with my husband.

Alice Honey
Senior Content CreatorWhat a typical day looks like: Coffee first, always. Followed by planning, styling, photographing and editing content for our amazing MSC clients.
What you’ll find me doing on the weekend: Bar hopping with friends, brunching, shooting blog pics and snuggling up on the couch with my cat.

Bridget Wilkes
Account and Communications ExecutiveWhat a typical day looks like: Every day starts with coffee – that’s a no brainer. I’ll then sit down at my desk, plan my day (I’m a serial list maker) and work through my emails. You’ll find me doing quite a bit of writing – think blog posts and content plans, as well as communicating with clients – so lots of phone calls and zoom meetings! You’ll also commonly find me proofreading as I’m MSC’s resident grammar aficionado.
What you’ll find me doing on the weekend: I love going for a long walk to explore a new area (preferably with my family’s dog Charlie). I adore my sewing machine and you’ll often find me in the kitchen baking or cooking up a storm – homemade pasta or lemon tart anyone? I also find every possible opportunity to put together an IG-worthy cheeseboard and have a cheeky glass of wine.

Bonnie Dunleavy
Account & Communications ExecutiveWhat a typical day looks like: First stop is always the coffee shop near the office. Once caffeinated, I head to my desk and start working away on content planners for my clients, as well as Instagram Stories, EDMS, emails, and more. Throughout the day usually I’ll assist Alice with a shoot for one of our clients, and then treat the office to some of my terrible dancing to one of Sam’s playlists.
What you’ll find me doing on the weekend: I love footy, or cricket depending on the season. You’ll definitely find me at the MCG or Marvel Stadium. Go Saints! Outside of that, I’m brunching my way around Melbourne, or treating the people of Melbourne to my terrible dancing on a Saturday night (do we sense a theme here?!).

Octavia Taplin
Digital Marketing ExecutiveWhat a typical day looks like: Wake up, make a coffee, start checking emails and my tasks for the day. Work through them, and start prioritising the tasks (this always changes!). More coffee. My tasks range from planners, blogs, influencer campaigns/outreach, account management and anything else that pops up from time to time!
What you’ll find me doing on the weekend: A normal weekend will usually consist of me catching up with some friends over a wine and UberEats. That will be followed with a nice brunch, and then a nap. The perfect weekend? I think so.

Hannah Coombs
Digital Marketing ExecutiveWhat a typical day looks like: A typical day for me involves many cups of tea, chatting to clients, creating content, posting cool stories and assisting on photoshoots.
What you’ll find me doing on the weekend: On the weekend you’ll find me going for a walk to get potato cakes, sketching or painting and I may even take my bunny for a hop!

Grace Nieuwhof
Digital Marketing ExecutiveWhat a typical day looks like: A typical day for me looks like a morning walk to grab a coffee (a soy latte is my go to!). Followed by a busy and exciting day full of work with MSC. Then at night I will unwind with family and get some uni work done, I’m studying my master of marketing with RMIT ✨
What you’ll find me doing on the weekends: You’ll find me exploring beautiful parts of Tasmania with family and friends! I also love going out for dinner with my friends, we have some great cocktail and wine bars
