Placement Program
The Melbourne Social Co Placement Program is a 12-week immersive experience designed for university students and emerging talent studying marketing, communications, media, PR, design or related disciplines.
This is not a traditional internship.
Participants are embedded into the day-to-day rhythm of a fast-moving, social-first agency. Rather than following a rigid curriculum, placements experience agency life in real time — learning through exposure, contribution and mentorship.
Our goal is simple:
To give emerging talent meaningful, commercial exposure to how modern brands grow through strategy, content and culture.
What the Experience Looks Like
Over the 12 weeks, placements may:
-
Attend live strategy and campaign planning sessions
-
Shadow Social Managers, Creative Leads and Account Managers
-
Sit in on client meetings and internal brainstorms
-
Contribute to research, trend analysis and content development
-
Observe paid and organic integration in action
-
Review performance reporting and learn how we measure impact
Because MSC is a live agency environment, exposure evolves based on what is happening across the business at the time. We ask that applicants set aside approximately 12 hours per week for their placement, with 1 day a week worked from our Melbourne office.
Mentorship & Development
Each placement is paired with a senior team member who provides guidance, feedback and support throughout the program.
Participants receive:
-
Ongoing feedback on written and strategic work
-
Insight into agency standards and expectations
-
Honest advice on career pathways
-
Exposure to leadership thinking and decision-making
We believe growth comes from responsibility and feedback — not observation alone.
Practical Application
As part of their placement, participants will develop their own social strategy and content framework, applying the MSC strategic approach. This may be for a real brand, a case study or a hypothetical brief.
They will present their thinking to the team and receive structured feedback on:
-
Strategic clarity
-
Commercial understanding
-
Creative thinking
-
Communication confidence
This ensures every placement leaves with tangible, portfolio-ready work.
What Participants Gain
-
Real agency exposure
-
Understanding of how strategy translates into execution
-
Experience working within a high-performing creative team
-
Clear insight into the expectations of agency life
-
Professional feedback and career direction
-
A deeper understanding of where their strengths sit
For the right candidates, the program may open pathways into casual or junior roles at MSC.
Who It’s For
We look for students who are:
-
Proactive and curious
-
Strong communicators
-
Comfortable receiving feedback
-
Genuinely interested in social-first marketing
-
Keen to understand both creative and commercial thinking
This is suited to those who want to build real capability — not just add a line to their CV.
If this sounds like you, please fill out our expression of interest form.
Please note, due to the high volume of applications, not all EOI’s will receive a response.
